Introduction: At the heart of any successful review is criteria, those features that must be present for us to judge that something is good. For example, we're not likely to recommend a restaurant as good if it doesn't meet at least three criteria: delicious food, reasonable prices, and speedy service. Assignment: Let's use the Discussion Board this week to help each other find appropriate criteria for evaluating the subject of one another's review. Please read through the text in the box on page 163 entitled "Collaborating on Criteria." Instead of posting newsprint on the wall, let's use our discussion board posts to share ideas about appropriate criteria for judging specific items in different categories. First Part: When you are ready to begin, click on the link/title above to access the forum for the Week 6 Discussion Board. Label your thread with the name of the category of the thing you're interested in reviewing. Don't just write "restaurant" or "sitcom" or "short story." Try to narrow down the category if possible: "Greek restaurant" or "pizza place" or "animated sitcom" or "scary short story." Second Part: Now it's time to respond to what others have posted: Select the category identified by at least three different classmates and offer at least three criteria in response to the question, "In your judgment, what makes a particularly good __________ " (pizza place, scary short story, whatever the category is). Read what others have posted for criteria and add to the list of at least two classmates. As our text says, "If you don't know that much about the category, make a reasonable guess about a basis for judging it."
